Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Jawdat Nouri Al-Jashaami, President of Al-Ameed University, and the Deanships of the Colleges of Medicine and Dentistry, the Psychological Counseling and Educational/Academic Guidance Division at the College of Medicine launched the "Rahma" (Mercy) initiative to serve orphans.
The initiative, supervised by the division head Asst. Prof. Dr. Lamia Abdul Kareem, included a field visit to the Amir Al-Mu'minin Foundation for Orphan Care in Holy Karbala, with the participation of the "Ru'ya" (Vision) student team from the Colleges of Medicine and Dentistry.
Dr. Lamia Abdul Kareem, head of the counseling division, stated in an exclusive comment to the university's media, "This initiative comes as an extension of Al-Ameed University's approach to enhancing humanitarian values among our students and engaging them in service activities that deepen their sense of social responsibility."
Abdul Kareem added, "We conducted a field visit to the Amir Al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him) Foundation for Orphan Care in Holy Karbala, with the participation of the Ru'ya student team from the Colleges of Medicine and Dentistry."
Abdul Kareem pointed out that "visiting orphans and interacting with them instills a spirit of giving in the students' souls and reminds them that medicine is a mission before it is a profession. We are continuing to organize similar programs that contribute to building the student's personality on both humanitarian and professional levels."
Abdul Kareem explained, "The visit witnessed the implementation of a set of humanitarian and service activities, as students conducted dental examinations for the orphans, presented them with gifts and meals, in addition to organizing workshops to develop their skills in drawing and embroidery within an interactive atmosphere that contributes to enhancing their self-confidence."
For their part, the administrators of the Amir Al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him) Foundation for Orphan Care expressed their thanks and appreciation to Al-Ameed University for its continuous support and humanitarian initiatives that touch the needs of orphans and alleviate their burdens.
